A beginners guide to creating positive Feng Shui

Feng Shui is an ancient spatial practice originating from Chinese culture that evaluates space in relation to earth elements.

Using the foundations of the historical convention, proponents of Feng Shui look to create positive energy between individuals and the internal environments they occupy, especially the home.

By following the below tips, you too can improve the Feng Shui in your home.

Keep the home clutter-free – remove all unwanted things and fix anything that needs repair.

Use mirrors to help divert negative energy – this means deflecting light into corners to energise them (different corners will be energised in different ways). Aside from ticking the Feng Shui box, adding a mirror into a space can help create the illusion that the space is bigger than it appears.

Maximise natural light to create more positive energy – this helps create a sense of transparency and luminosity in a space, which can also be improved through the use of candles and lamps. To create a soft touch, sheer curtains compliment any glazed opening. Allowing fresh air circulate also helps create positive Feng Shui.

Create a sense of comfort and liveliness – this can be easily done by adding ornaments and soft furnishings.

Adding greenery – the use of healthy plants, fresh flowers, pleasant smells (aromatherapy) and good music attracts good energy, which can lift your spirits.

These tips are simple and general in nature, but by following them you can create a greater harmony in your home, bring a sense of balance into your life and re-energise the conditions in which you live.
